Our family's adventures living in Amman, Jordan

About me

We are an American family of four living in Amman, Jordan.  This is the fifth country my husband and I have lived in and the third for our children. We love living abroad, although it is not always easy to be away from our family.  We have two daughters that attend an international school here. This blog was started to keep friends and family updated on what we are up to.

  1. Hello there. I am an American who is married to a Jordanian, who just moved to Jordan with her husband and 2 young children. I have been here many times before…but am looking for any advice from a fellow American! Much appreciated and take care! Bethany

    Dear Leslie,
I am a friend of your mom (and dad). We met when we all lived in that wonderful apartment building in Yalova (Turkey), and I was around when you were born!
As you may know, your mom came to visit me last Friday. It was wonderful to see her again!! She hasn’t changed a bit – except for a little weight which she eggagerates. Anyway, I love her dearly, and I’m sure you know what a wonderful mother you have!
I just wanted to write to let you know how much I have enjoyed your blog. I’m glad you are back at it again. You are an excellent writer, do you know that? Your family is delightful and your activities so interesting. Please keep writing.
Hope to meet you (again) one day.

    Hi Leslie,
I was so pleased to find your blog. We are a Canadian family of 4 traveling around the world soon. Despite the unrest in the middle east we are still planning on visiting Jordan. We would like to stay for about 4 weeks in October of this year and live among Jordanians rather than tourists. Do you have any idea where we could find a homestay or rent a small apartment in a family-freindly neighbourhood in Amman? BTW, it looks like your girls are probably my kids ages (11 and 12).

    Thanks so much,

I’m writing a guide about Egypt in Paris’ architecture (available in spring 2013, publishing house : Ouest France) and during my research to illustrate obelisks, I saw your beautiful picture of the entrance of the Louxor temple, here :

I would like to know if you could give me the authorization to use it in my publication. And, if you’re agree, could you give me your terms and the copyright you want me to mentioned ? Is it possible, if it’s OK for you, to send me the file of this picture in high definition ?

    Best regards
    Géraldine Froger
